Portfolio Admissions Policy
The Department of Art + Design encourages submission of a portfolio with your application for admission to our majors. The portfolio will be reviewed by a committee of faculty members beginning in February of each year.
Applicants without portfolios are also encouraged to apply and may be accepted into the Department on a first-year probationary basis as art majors. Subsequent acceptance of probationary students into the animation concentration is dependent upon a review of the applicant's grades and a portfolio of work created during the freshman year.
The portfolio policy for students transferring from other schools is the same as for incoming freshmen: portfolios are recommended but not required. However, upon acceptance by the University, transfer students with previous college art credit must submit a portfolio to the Department in order to be placed properly within our program.
All students are encouraged to visit the Department of Art + Design Portfolio Requirements for portfolio submission requirements.
Students interested in Studio Art in collaboration with Boston's School of the Museum of Fine Arts are required to visit the school's Portfolio Requirements for portfolio submission requirements.
