Students holding BFA, BA, or BS degrees in art, as well as talented students with bachelors degrees in other fields, are welcome to apply for the MFA in Studio Art degree. Admission to the program is based on academic criteria and a portfolio review. The full-time program is offered in collaboration with Boston’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Admission is for the Fall semester only and is contingent upon acceptance at both institutions.
The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences requires the following:
- Complete application
- Application fee ($50)
- Personal statement
- 3 letters of recommendation
- Official transcripts from all institutions attended
- Portfolio
International applicants must provide proof of English proficiency (minimum TOEFL score of 79-80 on the internet-based exam, 550 on the paper-based exam, and 213 on the computer-based exam).
The Graduate School considers an undergraduate GPA of 3.000 or better to be favorable.
This graduate program is only available for Fall admission each academic year.
The deadline for complete applications to Northeastern University is January 15.
