  • Fulfill the portfolio requirement at the time of application or schedule a designated portfolio review by the Department Chair. Digital portfolios should be brought to the Department Chair with transfer petition, not mailed to admissions.
  • Have the Art + Design Chair assign them a Faculty Adviser.

For BFA in Studio Art Only

  • Fill out Boston’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts application found on the Admissions page on their website - NOTE: Do not pay the fee attached to the application or fill out the essay portion of the application. The Museum school only needs your basic information.
  • Bring your completed Boston’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts application along with your portfolio to your Dean’s Office Advisor, Ashley Lapp, in the Center for Academic Services located in 1 Meserve Hall.
  • Your Dean’s Office Advisor will then submit your application to the Admissions office at Boston’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts for review.
  • You will be notified by Boston’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts of their decision regarding admission.
  • If you are accepted into the program, you will need a NU ‘Program of Study’ petition signed by Ed Andrews, Chair of Department of Art + Design. (NOTE: Ed Andrews is the only person who is eligible to sign the NU ‘Program of Study’ petitions for students transferring into the BFA Studio Art program. All other signatures are unacceptable and will not be used to change your major).
  • Meet with your advisors, from Northeastern and Boston’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts, to discuss course scheduling and degree progress.
