Northeastern University is committed to achieving excellence through high-quality instruction in a liberal/professional curriculum that values equally, knowledge for its own sake, knowledge as a means to success in the workplace and knowledge as a cornerstone of personal achievement and satisfaction.
Northeastern is a university on the move. Last year, more than 21,000 students applied for 2,800 slots in the freshman class a rise of 26 percent from the previous year. The average SAT score for the class was 1200, up from 1153, and the average high school grade-point average was 3.51, up from 3.18.
The physical campus has been transformed, as well. Over the past several years, we've built new homes for the College of Computer and Information Science and Bouvé College of Health Sciences, a state-of-the-art research center, a premier recreation facility and nine new residence halls that can house several thousand students.
It's no wonder the Chronicle of Higher Education recently wrote, "When people talk about the hot places to go to college in the Boston area, Northeastern is now mentioned along with Harvard and Tufts universities, Emerson College and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology."
