As a developing artist at Northeastern University, you can benefit from the dynamic artistic and cultural life of Boston. Few cities offer such a wealth of institutions - professional theater and dance companies, world-famous museums and libraries, galleries and cinemas, jazz and rock clubs, and three centuries of historic architecture.
The city of Boston, with its superb museums, galleries, cinemas, and public library, is a primary resource for the Department. Students are encouraged to take advantage of these resources, and many of the courses meet regularly in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. In addition, many of Boston's leading designers, artists, photographers, and animators serve as adjunct instructors in the department's studio courses.
Northeastern is right on Huntington Ave., also named the Avenue of the Arts. The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, the Institute of Contemporary Art, and Boston Symphony Hall are all a short walk from campus. As an NU student, you only have to cross the street to be admitted without charge to the Museum of Fine Arts.
